The research project aims to investigate the functional dissociation between vision-for-perception and vision-for-action in individuals with autism. In typical individuals, these functions are supported by distinct cortical pathways, but it is hypothesized that autism may be associated with reduced specialization of these systems. To test this hypothesis, the study combines psychophysical methods with advanced motion tracking technology and kinematic analysis.

The research team assesses perceptual and visuomotor behaviors in autistic individuals using psychophysical methods to understand how they differ from those of neurotypical individuals. Additionally, we employ cutting-edge motion tracking technology and kinematic analysis to capture precise movements and examine potential alterations in the coordination between vision and action in individuals with autism.

By investigating the relationship between vision-for-perception and vision-for-action in autistic individuals, this line of research has the potential to provide valuable insights into the underlying mechanisms of autism and shed light on how the visual system functions differently in these individuals. The findings could have implications for understanding autism-related sensory and motor processing differences and potentially contribute to the development of targeted interventions to improve daily functioning and quality of life for autistic individuals.
